HOW TO: Look Healthy When You're Feeling Sick

Makeup Tips for a Healthy complexion!

Finally, I'm back in to blogging after a couple of weeks with the flu, &  I picked up a few tricks while trying to present myself for work, or just leaving the house in general at this time.
I think it's important to keep your skin moisturised, especially in Winter,
and to give some life & radiance back to the skin.
(Products I used & why, listed below)

 BASE PRODUCTS

After moisturising my face, I mixed a full-coverage luminous foundation with a illuminating face primer/base to give the ultimate glowy base!

I used NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation mixed with
L'oreal LUMI Magique Base Primer or MAC Strobe Cream

I then go for a highly pigmented & brightening concealer to cover those
dark, sleepy circles around my eyes! Ensuring it is lightweight to prevent creasing.

Using Urban Decays Naked Complete Coverage Concealer (my current fave concealer!)
Also Benefits Fake Up concealer (surrounded in Vit C & Apple Seed Extract)
keeps skin around the nose hydrated!

Typically, I would then start using powder products to set, contour, bronze etc, but I found working with more cream products would keep my face looking dewy & prevent enhancement of any dry skin

I Love Soleil Tan De Chanel as a universal cream bronzer to contour & add sunkissed colour!
Benefit Watts Up is a stunning champagne, cream highlighter for the cheekbones.
Cream Blushes! Tarte, Stila, Colourpop, MAC are just a few brands
 with amazing colours & formulas!

I actually went for a powder blush most days, Benefit Dandelion Blush.
This is a pale peachy pink, Face Brightening powder. This powder has a slight sheen on the skin giving a natural radiance with very subtle shimmer. Love!
Using the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, I set the oilier parts of my face with "Dim Light" & used "Radiant Light" over the cream bronzer! It gives a beautiful, brightening finish to your complexion when you're sick!

EYE PRODUCTS

When you're sick, you feel weak & your appearance can be the last thing you care about! So I like to leave a few unnecessary makeup steps out...

Eyeshadow! I will quickly pop a dot of shimmery white shadow in the inner corner to
open the eyes & look wide awake! I won't bother doing a crease/lid shade..
Mascara is a MUST to open up the eyes, Benefit Rollerlash is a great option.
Eyeliner is not necessary if you don't feel up to it, I personally don't feel myself without it!
I go for Maybelline Master Precise Liner, it's a felt-tip like pen & I find it super easy to use!
Kat Von D Tattoo Pen Liner is another easy alternative.

 LIPS

I prefer to go for a simple lip colour, something undetectable that fades off & is easy to reapply throughout the day. Creamy & Moisturising to hydrate your lips if they get dry.

I love my nude shades! Gerard Cosmetics "1995" I'm wearing in the photo above^ It's a rosey brown nude, deeper then my natural lip colour, super easy to wear!
Chichi Cosmetics "O.M Nude" a mauve brown Nude that's creamy & moisturising!

MAC Wash & Dry Collection

MAC Summer Collection Swatches

This stunning Summer collection, Wash & Dry, hit stores in NZ June 1st
And let me say, even though it's Winter here I couldn't wait to get my hands on some of these
gorgeous bronzey products!
"A breezy, bronzing collection inspired by bright, fresh hues - set your cycle to chic!"
I managed to pick up the three items I was interested in, Bronzing powder, Lipstick & the
eye-catching, gradient highlight powder! Check out Swatches Below
Maccosmetics.com still has a few products from this collection left so get in quick!

www.maccosmetics.com

First, I would just like to mention the packaging..
Um could this collection get any prettier! The gradient Blue, orange to yellow..?
Stunning reminiscent of summer! I miss the sun...
Any way, there is one downfall with this packaging, it feels slightly cheaper compared to classic MAC packaging, but the beauty in these products far outweigh that minor negative.

 SWATCHES

Wash & Dry Bronzing Powder
- "Matte Bronze" $27.50USD, $50NZD, $39AUD

This bronzer is a product I was planning on purchasing but never got around to it, when it came out in this amazing limited edition packaging, it was the time! It's actually a perfect neutral, matte brown for a natural looking contour & bronzed glow. I'm in love now & very happy with this purchase! This product is still available on Maccosmetics.com/maccosmetics.com.au
Wash & Dry Lustre Lipstick
- "Tumble Dry" $17USD, $44NZD, $40AUD

I was so excited to try this lipstick! It was a beautiful light peach on the website. I have never tried a Lustre lipstick from MAC before, but I have heard a few people say they're not the best formula,
I was just disappointed by the opacity of this, it's a sheer buildable peach, I was hoping for more pigmentation, maybe something similar to MAC "Sweet & Sour" but in a way, I'm still happy with this product, I like it to throw in my handbag for a quick application of colour during the day!
This is also available on maccosmetics.com USA ;)

Wash & Dry Highlight Powder
- "Freshen Up" $35.50USD, $66NZD, $51AUD

Oh..My..Goodness...how utterly amazing does this highlight powder look?!
"Featuring a unique gradation of three shades in one pan, from pastel banana, through fuzzy peach to mid-coral. With an embossed design & pearlized over-spray, this is truly a collector's piece"
This product is described as a highlight powder, though once the glittery golden
over-spray is brushed off you're left with three matte shades. I will continue to use this once the sparkle has disappeared, as a blush & face brightening powder, but I'm unsure of how some darker skintones (NC/NW35+) will be able to get further use out of this product..

<---- Bottom Swatch is all 3 mixed together

Make sure you run in store & see what you can grab from this
limited edition collection or check online! This is one collection you'll want get a piece of!
Even if it's just because the packaging is so stunning...

Buxom Show Some Skin Weightless Foundation

A Foundation Review...

A review on this featherweight foundation that combines the benefits of
BB cream & foundation with light to medium coverage.
Clinically proven to increase hydration, brighten & smooth skin while softening the
appearance of fine lines & wrinkles
Buxom cosmetics is well known for their Full-on Plumping Lip Creams, & have branched out in to the cosmetic world with so much more - bronzers, blushers & foundation!
This skin-nourishing foundation is formulated with Vitamin C, Tamarind seed, & Marine algae extracts while water encapsulation technology enables a refreshingly soft finish, while
its versatile coverage last for up to 8 hours.

I got this decent sized sample from Sephora when I made an order online, decided to
give it whirl & let you all know how amazing it is! Or isn't..
It offered four colour options to choose from for Light to Medium skin tones,
Tickle The IVORY - Neutral Ivory for Fair Skin
FAIR Game - Neutral Beige for Light Skin
Dim The LIGHT - Warm Yellow for Light Skin
Silky Negli BEIGE - Neutral Beige for Medium Skin
Available in 12 shades.
I have attached a photo of what the packaging is like below, not the most aesthetically pleasing but will avoid any breakage if dropped or knocked.
This particular product contains 45ml of foundation for $34 usd
You get value for your money when you're not paying partially for fancy packaging..
Now, as this foundation claims, it has a similar finish to BB cream, light to medium coverage giving the skin a hydrated, soft & smooth finish with breathable texture that seamlessly blends into skin.
Recommended use a pearl-sized amount for a moisturised, smooth, glowing complexion.
Though lacking in SPF like BB cream, it's blendable & buildable coverage imitates bare skin,
blurring imperfections while not completely covering blemishes, giving a smooth natural finish.
I applied "Fair Game" using just a Flat Top Kabuki (couldn't find my Beauty Blender!)
I instantly noticed how easily it melted & blended in to a dewy moisturised finish.
You will need more product then what is recommended for more coverage.
This colour may have been slightly to dark & "Tickle the Ivory" could of been better, but because it
allows your skin to show through, it still blended well.
It did rub off on my forehead within a few hours with me touching or playing with my hair.
                              BEFORE                                       AFTER

This is once I finished my makeup, how it applied, set and held other products over it.

Here is the photo of the sample packaging:
