Hot Makeup! Collab with Stacey Banfield - Part Two

A Review on the Products...

In Part two of my Hot Makeup collaboration with Stacey Banfield (Paintedlipsnz)
I will be reviewing the Hot Makeup products that I have & used
in the Glam, summery makeup look I posted last week.
Stacey shared her thoughts on the Hot Makeup products she picked up, on her blog (linked above^)
And this week will share a makeup look she created with her products
I can't wait to see what stunning look she comes up with!

Hot Makeup, founded by Francini Franco, was inspired by an artistic spirit of expression,
"Hot Makeup brings something new to the market. Something we've wanted for a long time, but never quite had. Infused with passion, vivid colours, fun & boundless possibilities of expression! Becoming a preferred choice for Makeup artists of film, T.V & Theater, all over Brazil"
- Hotmakeup.com

www.HotMakeup.com

So pictured above are the Eight products I purchased!
The look I created used seven of these products..
I was inspired by the stunning Rose Gold packaging to make an order online & the
Kiss Me More Lipcreme in "Sunkissed" to create some Summery peachy goodness with my makeup!
Hot Makeup USA ship Worldwide & have amazing deals on shipping costs.
I made my orders when they had Free Worldwide Shipping all of April.

 PRODUCT REVIEWS

Hot Candy Eye Shadow
- "Harmony" $17USD

These are essentially Pressed Pigments, when used with a wet, flat eye shadow brush, it creates a stunning Metallic-like sheen over the lid. Or if used dry, it gives a pop of sparkle on the lid. I was fairly disappointed with this product when used dry, no matter how I applied it, it looked & acted more like a glitter that would not stay or show much colour. I would recommend trying a Glitter Glue (eg. Too Faced Glitter Glue) to help the pigmentation & staying power. I found this product best to use with a wet brush, sprayed with MAC Fix +, it gave the most pigmented look with less fall out.
Seen on my lid in the pic below, "Harmony" sure did last all day & looked how it did when first applied.

Silky Matte Eye Shadow
- "Tuscan Sun" & "Fashion Sense" $12USD

These are single shadows in magnetized pans for Palette customization. Infused with Jojoba oil, these are highly pigmented & easy to blend. "Tuscan Sun" is a Deep burnt brown, copper & "Fashion Sense" is a Crisp, vibrant peachy orange. As pictured below, these shadows are larger than your average Eyeshadow pan, this is compared to a MAC single shadow. These can also be used for Blush

Red Carpet Ready Blush
- "Treasure" $21

This blush in "Treasure" is a bright orangey melon colour, very highly pigmented & has a silky texture on the skin. As shown in the picture below, this blush has a beautiful, natural sheen to it. But remember to use a light hand, these blushes aren't kidding around with their pigmentation! I love it & need more now!

Fat Daddy Mascara
- Waterproof Volumizing $19USD

"High definition Mascara that will separate, define & create volume while promoting eyelash growth"
The wand with this mascara is normal length, but thin with short comb-like bristles that coat each lash creating that separated & volumized look while also giving length, which everyone asks for in a Mascara! But, there is one downfall with this product..I found the formula to be very wet, which on the first swipe, lay down too much product creating clumpy, hard-to-define lashes. Also requiring a longer drying time. But the end result is so perfect I think I can get past that ;)

Luscious Lip Gloss
- "Good Girl" $19USD

This is one product I was most excited to talk about, these Luscious Lip Glosses! Let me first say, for a Lip Gloss, I can't get over the pigmentation! The swatch is with one swipe of this lip gloss..you can see for yourself. As for the tacky feeling normal lip glosses tend to have, this product does have a slighty sticky texture but nothing compared your average lip gloss we're used to.

Kiss Me More Lip Cream
- "Sunkissed" & "Runway" $19USD

And this is one product I was initially, very excited to try out! But instead, ended up disappointed with.. I loved the look of "Sunkissed" that creamy peach colour everyone would love to find in a Matte Lip cream product, I thought I'd hit the jackpot with this one.. These swatch & apply beautifully! They look so nice on the lips, until they start to dry..once dried, it starts to crumble off. These do not last very long before, in my opinion, they feel uncomfortable to wear & don't look very good cracking & peeling off on the inner of your lips..At first I thought I got a bad batch with "Sunkissed" so I then tried "Runway" a deep blue red, but this was the same. Something needs to be fixed with the mattifying components in these because the colours are beautiful!
Shown below is an example of how this product looks on the lips after 5-10mins.

So that is my review & honest opinion on all the Hot Makeup products I picked up.
I was impressed with most of these products & they are amazing, there were just those last few cons I was saddened by because I had looked forward to them the most!
But we will have to watch this space, because I have a feeling this brand is going to explode & take over soon! And who knows what they have up their sleeve for us next...

YSL Yves Saint Laurent Fusion Ink

A Foundation Review...

First impression of the new Yves Saint Laurent Fusion Ink Foundation
"Feels like a Feather, Wears like an Ink"
24 hours of soft-matte perfection & comfort.
Fine-as-ink formula perfects the skin yet wears weightlessly all day.
Never cakey or heavy
Innovative hybrid stain technology provides a lightweight yet high-coverage formula, and its exclusive extendable polymers offer buildable coverage that lasts, for all-day comfort. With broad spectrum SPF 18 sun protection. Available in 21 shades.

Once again, I'll start with the packaging..
I went to the department store Farmers in NZ, it carries most of the luxury high-end beauty brands
 - to collect a 7ml, 7 day sample of Fusion Ink - colour matched to BD20 - Warm Ivory
So, unfortunately I haven't got the full size product to show, but above is a visual on the packaging..
Yves Saint Laurent...Classic Luxurious Gold
A thick glass bottle, black & clear panels to show the colour & amount of product!
Similar to the YSL Glossy Stain packaging, only bigger.. Love!
The gold cap features a dopher applicator to easily swipe zones of the face.
Containing 25ml of product & retailing at $60 usd,
you may consider indulging in this product for a special occasion
eg. Wedding/Prom, as oppose to everyday wear.
The application & wear of this foundation..
I applied this foundation with a Beauty Blender on my right side
& a flat top kabuki brush on the other side to test the finishes.
Extremely lightweight when applying & has a watery to velvet texture on the skin.
Sets quickly & blends easily to a sheer coverage that corrects any discolouration & redness giving you a weightless, natural-looking, full coverage.
The skin looks so natural with this product, as if you have nothing on, yet will even
out the tone & correct imperfections.
If you want a Full blanket coverage, this is not the foundation for you..

       BEFORE                                                               AFTER

As you can see with the After shot, my skin looks clear & matte with a velvety finish
giving some of the natural vibrancy back.
It evened out my skin tone & covered any imperfections,
while allowing freckles & natural beauty shine through.
My closing opinion:
It's flawless, but I felt as though this foundation was not designed for drier skin types,
despite the "All skin types" label, it grabbed onto the dry patches I tend to get around my nose & forehead in Winter. Other then that, throughout a 7hr work day, this foundation got better!
My face was still flawless when I got home!
I had a natural, velvety glow with that matte finish to prevent looking oily!
By around 8 hours, it was ready for a quick powder touch up.
The colour was also perfection!
A perfect match to my neck & pale winter skin.
For help with Shades -
My shade = BD20 (Warm Ivory no.20 equal to MAC NC20)

B - (Beige) Ivory with Neutral Undertones
BD - (Beige Dore) Ivory with Yellow or Warm Undertones
BR - (Beige Rose) Ivory with Rosey/Pink Undertones

E.g MAC NW20 = YSL Fusion Ink BR20
MAC NC20 = YSL BD20

BEFORE               (Right Side - Beauty Blender)                 AFTER

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara

Roller Lash Mascara Review

First impression on Benefit Cosmetics New Mascara
Roller Lash
"A mascara inspired by hair rollers, this super-curling & lifting mascara gives a sexy
wide-eyed look. Its patent-pending Hook 'n' Roll brush features tiny custom-designed
hooks to catch, lift & curl even short & straight lashes"
"Bye-Bye, eyelash curler! Roller Lash has this Instant curve-setting formula that holds
curl for 12 hours, is easy to remove, & contains provitamin B5 and serine, known for their
lash conditioning benefits"
97% said it visibly lifts lashes
87% said it gives a long-lasting curl
94% said eyes look more wide open

The above is all written & found on Sephora.com :) ^
Now for my opinion & review...
First, the packaging.. I LOVE cute statement packaging that's eye-catching & stands out,
And Benefit never fails on that! How cool is the box with this product?!
The Mascara has a thick, black tube with "Roller Lash" in Rosy pink writing &
the hair roller inspired pink lid with a rubbery texture (which I fear could get dirty, fast.)
The wand is small with a slight curve in it, which I find helps prevent product getting on your lids.
"Gently wiggle the wand from the base of lashes to tip. Repeat across your lashline,
making sure to catch every lash "
This mascara is easy to apply, not too wet so it catches all your lashes & separates them.
I luckily have quite long, naturally curled lashes to start with, but I find this product sure
does help with curl not matter what length! But also adds length & separates the lashes, yet
because this product is more of a dryer, satin formula is it fast drying & gives a acceptable
amount of clumpy-ness to create slight volume, to prevent spidery lashes.
It's comfortable to wear, did not transfer throughout the day, a kept the curl intact.
Water Resistant. Very easy to remove.
Roller Lash retails $24 usd & I think is worth every penny for this high-end mascara.

Quick Tip: For thicker, longer, more dramatic lashes, apply a layer of
Benefits They're Real Mascara on top!

Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

A Foundation Review...

First impression of the new NARS Foundation - All day Luminous & Weightless
"An Oil-free foundation that delivers full, natural-looking coverage with
one drop, for lightweight, 16-hour wear"

NARS cosmetics is a popular, high-end brand famous for their "Laguna" Bronzer & "Orgasm" Blush throughout the Beauty community, and of course, the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation
Sheer Glow has been my holy grail foundation for a while now, but I was so excited to hear about this new "All day Luminous & Weightless Foundation"
How perfect does that all sound!?
So, I ordered it from Sephora during their VIB sale in April, And here is my first impression...

www.sephora.com/nars
Where do I start..
The Packaging! NARS has always had quality, sleek packaging with their signature,
capital lettered brand name on the matte-black front.
This product is no exception.
Tall, frosted glass bottle, Matte-black lid, brand name on the front. Beautiful.
But let me mention, there is a pump!
No need to purchase an add on pump like in the past with Sheer Glow, this product pumps the smallest amount so you can't go over the top or waste any!
There is the standard 30ml of product for $48 usd

Now for the application & wear of this foundation..
Claiming "An extraordinary level of perfection with ultra-lightweight, complete coverage & a uniquely fluid silky feel. Ideal for all skin types & tones, it quickly sweeps on weightlessly, absorbs quickly & blends easily for all-day natural luminosity"
Non- comedogenic (shouldn't clog pores) Dermatologist-tested.
Formulated without oil, alcohol or fragrance.
Directions: Shake, Apply 1 pump into your palm & start warming the foundation in the hands, then, working with the fingers, apply a small amount in the center of the face & begin pressing onto the skin working outwards in sections.
So for my first impression, I decided to go with a Beauty Blender on one side & a flat top kabuki brush on the other. I haven't tried my fingers as I really dislike the feeling of it..

I'm VERY naturally pale, as you can see in the before picture, so it's always incredibly hard to find the right shade. NARS has a great, wide range of Shades with different undertones to match every skin type. I went with Light 3 "GOBI" Light with Yellow undertones.
Though I have a neutral balance of pink & yellow tones in my skin, I heard "Monte Blanc" with pink undertones & "Siberia" with the neutral balance of both, can both come off very pink.
I checked Youtube videos & swatches online, and I feel "Gobi" is the perfect match!

                              BEFORE                                                  AFTER

Before, I have uneven skin tone, redness around my nose & a few blemishes.
The side with my mole or "beauty spot" is the side I applied using my Flat top Kabuki, and the Beauty Blender on the other side.
In my opinion, the first swipe with my brush was easy, full coverage, smooth & set quickly.
You need to work fast with this product, it's best not to apply the product straight to your face & blend. Pump the drops on to your hand, makeup tray etc & buff quickly section by section.
The Beauty Blender caused the need for more product, but gave the most beautiful, flawless, luminous finish. I needed about 2 to 3 pumps to get full, blended coverage.

You can see how luminous & naturally glowy my face looks wearing just this foundation!
Its certainly lightweight for the kind of coverage you are finished with.
My only con or "thumbs down" would be that this product can pick up on any kind of dryness you may have. I recommend cleansing & exfoliating (if need be) thoroughly before applying & make sure your skin is hydrated & moisturised

After a full 12 day of wear (didn't quite make 16) my makeup still looked flawless!
My contour & blush, the blended effortlessly over top, were still in place.
So far, I'm impressed! NARS, you've done it again!
