Colourpop Cosmetics - Yes Please! Palette review

If your on Instagram, I'm sure you would've seen this stunning little palette floating around the popular page. Colourpop have done it again bringing us the ultimate warm toned palette, with 12 matte and metallic to-die-for shadows - this is the Yes Please! palette

At a ridiculously affordable $16usd you can't go wrong adding this baby to your collection. She's an absolute must-have! You can create a multitude of looks with these shades, go all matte with a pop of yellow or take it in to nighttime with some shimmer and deep brown outer V! Or play around with some sunset shades, you can go day-to-night with this palette. Plus it's perfect to travel with, it's compact and thin so it won't take up space in your makeup bag. And because it's so cheap, it's not the end of the world if it breaks in transit.

Every shade in this palette is pigmented, smooth and easy to blend with very little fall-out! The shade "Spoiled" is slightly drier in texture than the other matte shades but still performs perfectly on the eye. The metallic shades are so soft they're almost like foiled shadows. And every shade in this palette is new and exclusive to this palette except for "Note To Self" & "Full Zip" which you can buy in single pans. The pans in this palette are a little smaller than their single shadows - each pan has approx 0.85grams per shadow in this palette, whereas the single pans have 1.5grams of product. Still very good value for what you're paying for 12 shades!

There really isn't anything negative I can say about this beauty, maybe besides the fact it's limited edition -.- just like everything good these days! I really hope Colourpop makes this a permanent item or bring the shades from this palette into singles if we run out of a fave (I can see that happening!) and I hope they make more palettes like this one in different colour schemes for everyone, maybe a cool toned palette? Some silvers, blues and greys? What are your thoughts??

Violet Voss Haul! Swatches & Review

Holy Grail & Drenched Metal!

If you follow me on Instagram, you would know already how much I love these palettes! But I wanted to get a little more in-depth with the products I got from Violet Voss & tell you guys exactly what I think of them. I saw pictures of the palettes floating around Instagram, then Laura Lee on YouTube collaborated to create her own stunning palette, & the shadows looked insanely pigmented & easy to work with. Unfortunately I missed out on her palette but noticed they still had both the Holy Grail & Drenched Metal palettes available & I couldn't help myself, I had to get both! I ended up ordering one of their liquid lipsticks to try out as well.

Sadly, Violet Voss does not ship to NZ, only USA & Canada. So I had to use a forwarding address, one of my favourites is NZ Post YouShop. It took about a week to arrive to the YouShop warehouse then another week to arrive to NZ after paying for the shipping.
As for the products, oh em geee! haha they are seriously beautiful. Each palette has 20 colours, Matte, Metals, Satins, Big Size pans (1.8g) all Cruelty Free & housed in a super thin, matte black palette for $42 USD each. The liquid lipsticks are available in 15 shades (I got "Wasted"), long-lasting liquid to full matte finish & smooth to apply for $12 USD each

♥HOLY GRAIL♥

Crystal - Satin Pearl White, perfect to highlight the brow bone

Ploof - Satin Pale Rose Gold, another good highlight especially for the inner corner
Thanks A Latte - Matte Cream Beige, I use this as a base shadow before applying other colours
Transition - Matte Warm Caramel Brown, as it's name suggests it's the perfect transition shade!
Hashtag - Matte Terracotta Orange, this is quite vibrant & perfect for any season on the lid/crease
Awesome Sauce - Metal Copper Bronze, holy sh*t this is beautiful, so smooth & pigmented!
Bestie - Matte Neutral Brown, another great transition shade but is slightly cooler toned
Toffee - Metal Golden Bronze, similar to Awesome Sauce, smooth & pigmented
Chill - Satin Antique Gold, nicely pigmented & perfect for a softer golden eye that's not so intense
How U Dion - Metal Bronze Copper, has more copper/red tones compared to Awesome Sauce but is just as smooth & pigmented as the other metals.
Bat My Eyes - Metal Deep Bronze, has a deeper brown base with tons of bronze shimmer
Cool Beans - Metal Gold, this smooth pigmented gold also has some deeper bronze shimmers
R U Kitten Me - Matte Midtone Caramel Brown, so smooth & a little deeper than Bestie/Transition
So Jelly - Satin Iridecent Pink, almost duochrome with a highlighting gold effect
On Fleek - Metal Copper Red, another smooth, pigmented metal shade with a deeper copper base
Brownie Points - Matte Deep Earthy Brown, so smooth & blends like butter
Teddy Bear - Matte Deep Cool Brown, almost an eggplant brown & blends like a dream as well
Glamping - Satin Burgundy, I tried this reddish brown using a wet brush & had trouble applying
Cranberry Splash - Metal Cranberry Red, such a stunning colour, so smooth & pigmented
Wine N Dine - Matte Cranberry Pink Red, a little drier/patchier than the other mattes, but that's to be expected with a matte red. It's still very pigmented.

I feel like I said every shade is beautiful, smooth & pigmented but they're honestly some of the best shadows I've ever used! And the metals are just so eye-catching, one little touch of my finger gave full pigment. I wasn't a big fan of using "Glamping" with a wet brush, it didn't make the shade more pigmented in any way & actually made the shadow clump up in the pan so it doesn't swatch or apply the same now. I think because they're already so buttery & pigmented that they don't actually need to be intensified, they already give the effect of wet foiled shadows without added fix+. This is the ultimate warm eyeshadow palette, you can use these shades in Summer, Fall, Winter & Spring & can create so many beautiful warm looks with the golds, bronzes & cranberries!

There's not much I can say about this palette because it's all metal shadows, bar one matte transition shade "Secret", the swatches speak for themselves. I can't keep saying "They're so amazing, they're so amazing" over & over, you can see how consistently smooth & pigmented each shade is. I've got enough gold/bronze shadows to last me years now, I'd like to see a matte palette from Violet Voss that would work well with the Drenched Metal shades, or a cooler version of the Holy Grail - silvers, purples, blues etc. These shadows are pretty long-lasting aswell, I always forget to use a primer but these shadows still last on my eyes, which is great because alot of metallic shadows tend to lose the glitter throughout the day, in turn losing alot of the pigment.. I highly reccomend these palettes if you're looking for anything similar, they're both quite handy to have, the Holy Grail is perfect for everyday warm looks, glamourous & simple looks & perfect for all seasons! And the Drenched Metal palette is perfect for all the pigmented metallic shades like "I'm So Fancy" & "Dark Desires", grab this palette, a couple of mattes & you could create magic on your eyes! 

♥WASTED LIQUID LIP♥

Liquid to Matte Lipstick in the shade "Wasted" is  described as a Warm Chestnut Nude Rose. The formula is quite thin compared to other liquid lipsticks I've tried, it's very pigmented but because it's thin it's also very easy to build up for more opacity. It's super long-lasting & a little difficult to get off.. (Try to avoid licking lips & greasy foods for a longer lasting colour) And doesn't have any scent. They have 15 different colours available & are $12 USD each

I've been trying to write this review all week but life caught up with me, as it does..

Anyway I can't wait to show you all swatches of this palette! It's so beautiful :D

Modern Renaissance

If any of you have had the chance to try ABH eye shadows, you'd know they are amaaaazing! Though I'm not a huge fan of berry tones & the first few reviews I had heard were of people saying how many berrys & red shades were in there, but knowing how good the ABH shadows are I had to own this palette! And once I got it, there actually aren't too many berry shades.. three? The rest are beautiful neutral shimmers, warm earthy colours, a couple of cooler toned mattes. I'm so in love & it actually can be very versatile, if you use that creative mind of yours! ;) The palette is available for $42usd

I got my palette from Beautylish.com, just a quick shout out to this website, you must check them out! Free Shipping to NZ on orders over $50usd & they have a payment plan! If you want a few things that make your order over $100usd, but you can't pay for it, the payment plan allows you to pay in three payments, one week a month for three months. It's awesome, I was able to pick a few other products up I haven't tried yet, without breaking the bank!

Anyway back on to the Modern Renaissance, I definitely have to mention the packaging for this palette.. If you know me, you'll know I'm an absolute sucker for great packaging! This palette is covered in faux lavender/lilac suede.. I can't.. I'm totally obsessed with suede this season & that is another reason I had to have this palette! Plus the little dual sided brush, that comes with each ABH palette, is actually really nice & handy to have.
Let's look at the swatches, as per usual, the quality of the shadows are amazing

Tempera - Velvety Beige with a matte finish (hard to see on my skin)
Golden Ochre - Earthy Yellow with a matte finish
Vermeer - Iridescent shell with a metallic finish
Buon Fresco - Antique Lavender with a matte finish

Antique Bronze - Metallic sable brown with a satin finish

Love Letter - Raspberry with a matte finish

Cyprus Umber - Dark coffee with a matte finish

Right side:

Raw Sienna - Neutral caramel with a matte finish

Burnt Orange - Mid-tone neutral orange with a matte finish

Primavera - Shimmery gold with a metallic finish

Red Ochre - Earthy Red Brown with a matte finish
Venetian Red - Crimson berry red with a matte finish

Tempera, as you can see (or can't see haha) it's basically the same colour as my skin, just a matte light beige, nicely pigmented as works great as a base shadow or brow bone highlight

Golden Ochre, this is kind of like a light muted mustard colour with a matte finish it works great in the crease as a transition shade for the other colours in the palette

Vermeer, very pretty iridescent pearly shade, like a pinky champagne with a metallic finish, this of course looks great on the lid or inner corner, and even a light wash over the brow bone to highlight.

Buon Fresco, this is a very pretty cool toned matte, a light muted lilac or lavender shade, nice in the crease for a cool transition, or on the lid for a soft pastel smokey eye

Antique Bronze, love this metallic sable brown shade, it has some violet looking shimmers as well as bronze against a brown base, so pretty for a smouldering eye look 

Love Letter, Raspberry matte, what else can I say? It's a deepish pinky purple red with a matte finish, looks amazing with just about everything else in this palette but is the only one I found a little dry..

Cyprus Umber, love loove this cooler toned, dark coffee shade, it's so matte, so pigmented, so buttery and blends like a dream. Make sure to only use small amounts at a time

Raw Sienna, this is the perfect crease/transition shade we all love, a matte neutral caramel shade that works well with all the other shades in this palette

Burnt Orange, another shade I love, a muted mid-tone orange matte shade that is great in the crease, looks amazing with the other warm shades in this palette and really makes blue eyes pop!

Primavera, this is my favourite shade in the palette, I love a good gold eye shadow & this shimmery gold with a metallic finish does not disappoint, its very nicely pigmented

Red Ochre, another beautiful warm matte in this palette like burnt orange but a deep earthy reddish brown, so pigmented & looks beautiful used for a cut-crease or on the lid as a burgundy smokey eye

Venetian Red, like Love Letter but more red and not as dry, described as a crimson berry matte shade, buttery & nicely pigmented

Warm Taupe, earthy grey, taupe brown shade, another handy matte shade to have for the crease or transition shade. Use it with the raspberry shades to create a sexy candy eye

Realgar, this is my FAVE shade it's so beautiful, a true brick orange with a matte finish. This is another buttery, highly pigmented matte and looks great with shades like Red Ochre, Cyprus Umber, Burnt Orange and Antique Bronze.

What more can I say to convince you that you need this palette!? It's pigmented, it's buttery, it has variety with warm, cool & neutral tones & shimmers. The palette itself is beautiful and it's at a really decent price point, especially if you're ordering from Beautylish

Jeffree Star is back at it again (or I should say never stopped) slaying our existence with his amazing products, and has just released the Beauty Killer, his very first eyeshadow palette! And biiiitch CAN WE JUST?!?!  The pops of colour, the glitter & of course the Hot Pink! If this palette doesn't scream Jeffree, I don't know what does.

I missed out on the first release of this palette, it sold out so fast! But thankfully Jeffree restocks all the time & had more a few days later.. I placed my order & it took around 10 days to arrive to NZ :) I couldn't wait to play with this baby & try different colour combinations! But first - that packaging though?!? Ugh I love everything about Jeffrees packaging choices! His liquid lips are dressed in Hot Pink & Rose Gold and of course this palette follows suit with the outside box, but the palette itself is an adorable baby pink with gold edging & "Beauty Killer" in black calligraphy - LOVE! And one thing I love about Jeffree & his products, he knows what we want! Value for Money? Yes Ma'am, these eyeshadows are huge! Each pan has 0.09oz/2.52g of product which is a very generous size

In comparison - MAC singles 0.04oz/1.3g, Makeup Geek 0.064oz/1.8g, ABH singles 0.05oz/1.4g, Sugarpill 0.12oz/3.4g, KvD Metal Crush 0.10oz/2.8g

And Pigmetation? Another Yes Ma'am! You can see for yourself in the swatches below, these are some super pigmented shadows! Very buttery with extreme colour payoff in one swipe, but you will notice when using them there is some shadow fallout, which (let's be real) will always be the case with pigmented buttery shadows, other wise it becomes patchy & dry on the lid.. And these however blend like an absolute dream alone or with each other

Star Power gives a pop of Jeffree realness in this Matte Hot Pink shade. This shade stained my hand it's so pigmented but don't fear, it won't stain your eyelids! Princess is a light Lavender/Lilac with an intense Silver shimmer. Violence is a shimmery pink based Violet, I've heard people say it's not a very pigmented Purple but it's true to colour in pan & has a consistent buttery texture. Rich Bitch is a glitter packed true Gold, I found this shade hard to apply unless using a wet brush, the texture is kind of chunky but swatches nice. Courtney is the perfect warm brown transition shade for the crease, the texture is so buttery it literally blends with 3 swipes of your brush. Expensive is the shade the made me get this palette, that crisp Teal Blue with diamond looking glitter, it looks "Expensive"! Nicely pigmented & creamy texture, it doesn't apply as shimmery on the lid unless using a wet brush. Confession is beautiful! A rusty Burgundy Red shade with intense shimmer, the same consistency as "Princess"& "Violence". Vanity is another matte shade, this pigmented cool-toned blackened plum is so pretty but I thought it was a little dry/patchy compared to the other mattes in this palette, but nothing major it just takes a few more swipes to blend. China Doll is a creamy off-white Matte perfect for all over the lid as a powder base, this shade is so buttery! The same consistency as "Courtney". Black Rainbow..omg I LOVE this shade! A Matte Black base with Rainbow glitters throughout. The glitters don't really show up when used dry, so you can have a matte black look or wet your brush and experience the rainbow glitter goodness!

If you ever had a thought of getting this palette, I definitely think you should! It's well worth the money and the investment, I guarantee you will love this palette and if you can't think of any looks using the colours, try some of these..
